WWE Payback Kickoff

Dolph Ziggler def Barron Corbin

This match was alright, I was shocked as Dolph Ziggler won because I would think Barron Corbin would have won at his first main roster pay per view event but that was not the case, I guess they might have made him lose so that he can be more vicious as he probably will attack Dolph Ziggler on future shows like RAW and SmackDown and as for him being on the pre-show, it seems his push on the main roster has not started off well but at least it was on the card so I can’t complain.

Kalisto (c) def  Ryback – WWE United States Championship match

This was a rematch from WrestleMania which was similar to their mania match with power moves from Ryback and Kalisto with his usual high flying moves and Kalisto got the win in the end, if he is champion I would really like to see him winning matches on RAW and SmackDown even if it is in a tag match this will help build him up and strengthen his tag partner Sin Cara in the process, I was amazed by Ryback’s offence as he went off the top rope and delivered a gorilla press to Kalisto. I feel Ryback needs some momentum, he is a talented guy he can’t just be losing to Kalisto on pay per view.

WWE Payback pay per view

The pay per view starts off with The New Day making an entrance to introduce the show, talk about the tag team tournament and cut a good promo as usual and ending with “Because New Day Rocks”.

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy vs The VaudeVillians – No contest

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy made their entrance which saw them do their usual shtick, shortly after The VaudeVillians made their entrance to boos not because of their ability of in ring wrestling but because of their entrance as it is not perceived well by the fans.

This match was going well with offence from all competitors in the respective teams until a toss from Simon Gotch resulted in Enzo sliding out of the ring but not before hitting the bottom rope which resulted in a concussion. He is ok, which seems to be the case as Kevin Owens tweeted a picture with himself, Enzo and Colin Cassidy showing Enzo in a hospital outfit and also that he is walking thankfully, didn’t really enjoy messages of people making fun of Enzo hitting the ropes.

Kevin Owens def Sami Zayn

This match was awesome, the video package was shown for this match which hyped the match up even more. I can actually see why this match was booked, it was so amazing. straight up action from both superstars one upping each other with various moves like Canon Ball from KO, Suicide dive tornado DDT from Zayn and at the end Kevin Owens secured the win, I think Sami Zayn deserved to win as KO has already had a good run on the main roster so Zayn should have got one up in this bout between the two.

The Miz/w Maryse def Cesaro

First of all, Kevin Owens sat at commentary which annoyed me, didn’t we see enough of him in his match. Why is are people always picking on Bryon Saxton? Owens on commentary was a distraction from this match, that was soon taking care off by Sami Zayn but later interrupted again as Cesaro took out both Owens and Zayn who were brawling on the ring apron later to be pushed off by Cesaro and then a roll up pin by Miz which was a bad way to end this match.

Dean Ambrose def Chris Jericho

This match was a war between this two superstars, both superstars are likeable. I was rooting for Ambrose to win this match in order to bounce back from his loss at WrestleMania, overall I thought the match was good. The announce table came into play as it did for Jericho for the build up for this match and then later back in the ring, a few knees from Ambrose that ended with Dirty Deeds and a win for Ambrose.

Charlotte/ w Rick Flair (c) def Natalya/ w Bret Hart

This match was alright, with the determination from Natalya to try and win the championship, a highlight of this match included Charlotte with a moonsault which I thought was good, the match ended in a contreversial way dubbing it as a “Chicago Screwjob” relating to the Montreal screwjob to which I thought was not necessary. This was a bad ending as Natalya didn’t tap but the referee known as Charles Robinson aka Little Niatch called for the match to end as he ran to give Charlotte the belt,He has a history with The Flairs.

Vince McMahon’s decision

I was really excited for this decision to see who gets chosen to run Monday Night Raw, Shane and Stephanie McMahon both had good reasons to why they should take charge of RAW but in the end Vince chose both Shane and Stephanie to run RAW together, in my opinion it was disappointing as I would have liked a one of them chosen not both, or even there are rumours of a brand split happening soon as they showed superstars Apollo Crews and Sasha Banks backstage having a conversation with Stephanie and Shane (individually)

Roman Reigns (c) def AJ Styles – WWE World Heavyweight Championship

This match was highly anticipated and I could see why because it was an awesome match, before viewing this match the possibilities of what could happen in this match were very exciting and it did not disappoint because it was an action packed match up. Shane and Stephanie came out separately to restart the match as there was a countout and low blow eventually the match became a No Disqualification match which saw Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson come to lay out Reigns not until The Usos came to the aid of their cousin and finally the match ended with Reigns hitting a brutal spear on AJ Styles to pick up the victory.

Final Thoughts:

  • I enjoyed the pay per view, it was good.
  • Favourite matches had to be Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles.
  • Because of Enzo’s incident, I would have liked to see the match between Becky Lynch and Emma.

Did you enjoy WWE Payback? Which match was your favourite?

WWE Payback 2016 Predictions

The WrestleMania show has past and now we are looking towards WWE Payback which has  an impressive match card to get everyone excited, the pay per view will take place in Rosemont, Illinois on the 1st of May 2016 at the Allstate Arena. This post is going to include my predictions for the show.

Roman Reigns (c) vs AJ Styles – WWE World Heavyweight Championship

This is a match that was added to the pay per view as AJ Styles became the number 1 contender for Roman Reigns WWE Championship by winning a fatal four way match and also defeating Sami Zayn one on one, as this match goes I think Reigns is going to win as not only are they gonna make him look strong like majority of Reigns haters say but he needs to retain for his first pay per view since winning at WrestleMania. I have a feeling that Anderson and Gallows will show up but I don’t really want that to happen, this match should just be a one on one match.

The Miz (c) vs Cesaro – WWE Intercontiental Championship

Poor Zack Ryder just gonna sidelined, would have liked to see him in this match, regardless of that i don’t really mind who wins this match. I can see it going both ways but they will probably let Miz hold on to the title as he won it on the RAW after WrestleMania, however anything can happen. They are both well established WWE Superstars and good competitors so anyway this match goes is ok as long as it is entertaining.

Charlotte(c)/w Rick Flair vs Natalya/ w Bret Hart – WWE Womens Championship

This is a rematch from WWE Roadblock, this match has been set up pretty good especially when Legends are added to the equation as Bret Hart will be in Natalya’s corner and we already know Rick Flair is in Charlotte’s corner so no surprise there. I got a question though, why isn’t Sasha Banks on the card??

Becky Lynch vs Emma

This match has been teased these past couple of weeks, both of these women are fantastic in the ring but I would prefer to give this one to Emma as she has been impressive ever since returning to the main roster.

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy vs The VaudeVillians – Number 1 contendership finals

The tournament final which is sponsored by Booty O’s (they make sure you ain’t booty) comes down to Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy who take on the VaudeVillians. My pick to win this match is Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy as their very likeable and have good matches, but this can be difficult as both teams have just recently made the move up to the main roster from NXT and their both getting the chance to see who will come out with the victory and become the number 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team championships

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens

This match is a fight in the making pitting two friends against each other. My pick for this one is Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens has dominated ever since moving up to the main roster however I just think this is Zayn’s match to win. As both these two have huge followings with the fans it makes this match much more interesting.

Dean Ambrose vs Chris Jericho

This match was supposed to take place at WrestleMania but as AJ Styles debuted that had him face Jericho, the feud for this match was started off in a comedic style on “The Highlight Reel” which is hosted by Chris Jericho but was taken over by Ambrose’s new show despite the comedic nature of the start of this feud when this two square off at the pay per view you can guarantee it’s gonna be an awesome match. My pick will have to be Ambrose as he can use this as a rebound to bounce back from his loss at WrestleMania.

Barron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler

I think we all have an idea of who is going to win this match as always Dolph Ziggler is fed to newcomers, so that they can build up Barron Corbin and make him look good. I don’t have anything against Barron Corbin but i just think they should have picked someone else to challenge him other than Ziggler.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs The Usos

This is similar to the Barron Corbin Dolph Ziggler match, Gallows and Anderson are going win this one because WWE are building up The Bullet Club so this is match is logical but despite that The Usos are gonna give it their best

Kalisto (c) vs Ryback – WWE United States Championship

A WrestleMania rematch will take place as Kalisto will take on Ryback due to the match on WWE SmackDown which saw Ryback pick up the win. I would have to say Kalisto is going to retain as many are saying Sin Cara might turn heel in order for a feud involving him and Kalisto to begin.

The New Day??

I don’t know if they’ll have a match on the card, they’re likely to be on commentary to watch the finals of the tag team championship tournament or face The League of Nations. I would really like The New Day to become the longest reigning tag team champions as they have been so impressive as champions and their transition has just been amazing.

Apollo Crews??

Where does Apollo Crews fit on the match card?? He has been wrestling The Social Outcasts so he will probably face Heath Slater but I feel he deserves something better, no offence to Heath Slater, I mean a pointless match is not going get him anywhere I think he should be in a high impact match that can make a difference to his career in WWE like maybe he should be included in a match to introduce the brand split.
